About Philly Tech Sistas

Philly Tech Sistas is an organization aimed at helping women of color gain technical and professional skills in order to work, thrive, and move up in the tech industry throughout Philadelphia. We do this by providing intro to programming workshops and professional development events that build leadership, confidence and community.

Our intent is to increase diversity amongst the tech industry by supporting women of color in STEM fields. As such, our paid workshops and scholarship opportunities are targeted toward people of color who identify as women, non-binary, or gender non-conforming and want to take part in a female-identified environment. In a society where women of color collectively only make up about 8% of the tech industry, it is important to us that we provide safe, fun, social, spaces where women of color can come together, learn from each other and not feel marginalized. If you'd like to learn more about why it's important for underserved groups to have safe spaces you can read this article.
